I have HUGE news from the home front.  Let me update you.

OK, so I turned TMD into TMI when I shared what was going on with me, but I didn’t tell you guys everything.  I wanted to wait and see what the doctors found out before I said anything.  Long story short, they were looking for cancer.  Thank the Lord, all my tests were negative.  So, as far as we can tell, I am OK, and things appear to be working normally for me once again.  It’s a good thing, too, because…

Some time ago, I told you that my general, BB (my wife) wanted TMD to strategically re-deploy to a new theater of operations (i.e. move to the country).  Well, the Lord is at work because everything suddenly fell into place for us.  We found the perfect house, perfect location, perfect asking price and sellers.  Then we found the perfect realtor to help us sell our home.  We listed, and now, four weeks later, we are under contract to a family who is, as far as we can tell, perfect.  If all goes well, TMD will move to its new home on July 17!

It’s time to share another little secret I have been keeping from you.  TMD out-grew my current shop about 3 months ago.  I simply do not have room to run things efficiently, not anymore.  The product line and all the materials associated with producing, storing and shipping it simply do not fit in the current building.  As a result, things have been stacked up on each other and it has caused real problems trying to keep up with your orders while continuing to churn out new stuff on a regular basis.  Well, the move is going to fix all that.

The current shop is only 500 sq ft.  The new shop is 864 sq ft, plus I will have 585 sq ft of office and mastering space in the house.  Currently, all of this is jammed into my 500 sq ft building.  Once we move, TMD will have just short of three times the space it has now.  This might even allow me to start putting ready stock on the shelves again, and that will make it possible to return to the show circuit (but we’ll have to see about that one).  All-in-all, I can’t tell you how much this move is going to help, or how excited I am about it.  However, it comes at a price.

I am going to be very slow shipping out these next few weeks.  There is a lot that has to get done and not a lot of time to do it.  I will keep shipping orders up to about July 12(ish).  After that, TMD will be able to take orders, but I will not be able to ship them until I get the new shop up and running.  If Dave can help, and nothing unexpected pops up, that should be around August 1-4, maybe sooner.  We’ll have to play it by ear, but I’ll be keeping you fully informed.  Face Book will be the way to keep up with us as, once it starts, I will post daily pictures of the move and remodeling work on our Face Book page.

OK, that’s all I have for now.  More as it becomes available.  This is exciting news, my friends.  It means TMD will be able to get back in to high gear real soon.  But, until then, you stay safe and try to build something (preferably something using TMD resin).

  1. Exceptionally great news on all levels . Great news on the health front, no doubt about it.

New workshop, more room, heck yeah, win-win!

  2. Hi Joe,

So very glad to hear all of your health issues got resolved!

  3. Joe…Very happy to hear the results of your testing. I am working on a DML Tiger 1 initial kit 6600. The turret is in two pieces and I don’t like working with the seam. Will the turret that you sell for the TAM/ACA kits, 355055, work with the DML 6600 initial Tiger I kit? Also, any recommendations that you have to better the kit would be appreciated. I am building no. 123.

First, great news on the health front!

Second, this comes to mind: Green Acres is the place for me, farm living is the life for me, Work Space spreading out so far and wide, keep wherever, just give me that country side!
