2018.4.12 UPDATE: A Week for BB

Hello Friends,

This was a week for BB.  I still worked for TMD (mostly shipping orders), but I spent a lot of time catching up on some chores around the house.  Still, there is news.

I went to Ft. Benning Monday, to spend some time with the ‘Big Cats’ there (Tiger, King Tiger and Panthers).  I have a lot of ideas for new products, and I discovered some interesting details about the Panthers at the museum.  If all goes well, it will pay off for you on the 30th.

I have a long and growing list of things I want to make for the Panthers before I come off of this subject.  My next release date is April 27.  By then, I hope to have as much of the following ready for you as possible:

— A few more spare road wheel and track sets

— At least 1 pattern of exhaust and jack mounting brackets for the Ausf. D, A and G Panthers

— A general detail set for the Ausf. D, A and G Panthers

— Some Jerry cans in mounts for mounting between the rear storage boxes and exhaust stacks

— A storage tube with mounts to go across the rear deck

— Several options for mounting un-ditching beams (beams included) across the rear deck

I am also working on the T29/30/34 hull.  I have the spare track holder finished, and am just about finished with the mufflers and mounts.  There are just a  few more items I want to finish before we release the last of the lower hull details and put this kit to bed for good.

As soon as the Takom mid Lee kits hit, we’ll finish with that series, as well.

Also, it is very possible that you will see more Sherman goodies from Karl.  Cross your fingers, but there may be some more upper hulls on the way and, from what I have been told, some of them have never been kitted in plastic or resin!

Finally, I might even have a few odd-ball surprises for you.  If all goes well, April 27th is shaping up to be a good week for TMD stuff.

I started the week under a pile of orders.  I worked hard to ship as many as I could, but they kept coming in.  So, unfortunately, I will start next week with some older orders still waiting to get shipped.  I apologize.  If you have not received an email from, your order is one of those still waiting to be sent out.  All I can say is I will be back at it hard and heavy first thing Monday morning.

Now that things are starting to get back to normal, I am going to have to make time to get back to the web site.  I’ll catch up on where I was with the customer who has been helping me over the weekend.  We’re close to having something for you guys, but I am not a tech guy, so I am slowing my helper down.  Unfortunately, we’re at that point where I have to do the lion’s share of the work, so just hang int here.  I will not let go of this project.

At the moment, this is the only other work that is pressing on me.  Until I get them finished, it will be orders, new products and the web site — in that order.

I put in a lot of time for BB this week.  I picked up all the pine cones and got the yard mowed.  I fixed the bird feeders.  I started trimming the trees and cleaning up the dead-fall around our five acres.  I also sprayed the weeds on the walk ways.  It may not sound like much, but five acres of trees and yard is a lot to police.  Other that this, my world is still good — terrific, even.  I am going to try (for the thousandth time) to actually build something this weekend.  If I succeed, I’ll post pictures.

Well, that’s all I have for now.  So, until next week, stay safe and try to build something (preferably something using TMD resin).

  1. These sound good, Joe. I still want to go to Benning with you to get current photos of the big cats to post on LandmarkScout. I’ve been promising them an article for a long time, I have lots of info on the Tiger B and its commander Otto Blasé for them. If you take me along, I can get photos of you and post them as the premier maker of aftermarket Big Cat producer which will hopefully be a good ad for you.
Also, please send the photo that I am about to send to you by regular email to Karl, it is a 50 Cal. mount that I have never seen made in plastic or resin. Also, I would love to see a Karl quality interior for the Tamiya M10, especially the site and the breech. That is one heck of a tank hunter but the breech of every one I have ever seen in plastic is lacking something…
